Jesus Taken Up Into Heaven

"In my former book, Theophilus, I wrote about all that Jesus began to do and to teach until the day he was taken up to heaven, after giving instructions through the Holy Spirit to the apostles he had chosen. After his suffering, he presented himself to them and gave many convincing proofs that he was alive. He appeared to them over a period of forty days and spoke about the kingdom of God. On one occasion, while he was eating with them, he gave them this command: “Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about. For John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.”

Then they gathered around him and asked him, “Lord, are you at this time going to restore the kingdom to Israel?”

He said to them: “It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

After he said this, he was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid him from their sight."
Acts 1:1-9

There is much that is written about Jesus and among the last things written down that He did and said was recorded by one of His early followers, a doctor named Luke in the book of Acts.

And he wrote that Jesus told them, His disciples that "you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you"..."you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.”

Such is the life of all true believers. And this is the evidence. Once the Spirit of the Lord comes, He gently rearranges everything in your life and people can and will see changes in your daily life, sometimes, you yourself will not notice anything until someone else tells you about it. Some people will notice certain things about you are not the same anymore and then you yourself will be amazed as well.

Of course there is still much work to be done and much to be learned but like a young child, each new believer is reborn like a baby, and molded and guided by the Spirit of truth with the love of our Father in heaven through the belief of the finished work of salvation of our Savior.

Meeting together with fellow believers, praying together, praying for one another, teaching one another, worshiping, learning God's Word, growing in faith and helping and encouraging one another all the more each and every new day is the sign that power from on high is alive and well and living within us. Yes, until we are all witnesses who will tell others up to the ends of the earth. And the evidence is living inside you.

Hallelujah.
