Inconvenient Biblical Teaching - Why Doesn't God Reveal Himself Or Prove Himself To Us Now

"Then some of the Torah scholars and Pharisees answered Him, “Teacher, we want to see a sign from You.”

But Yeshua replied to them, “An evil and adulterous generation clamors for a sign, yet no sign shall be given to it except the sign of Jonah the prophet. For just as Jonah was in the belly of the great fish for three days and three nights, so the Son of Man will be in the heart of the earth for three days and three nights. The men of Nineveh will rise up at the judgment with this generation and condemn it, because they repented at the preaching of Jonah. And behold, something greater than Jonah is here. The Queen of the South will rise up at the judgment with this generation and condemn it, for she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon. And behold, something greater than Solomon is here.

[14th message of the Why I Don't Believe Series]

The messages in this series discuss how some people who reject Christianity do so because they either cannot accept an inconvenient biblical teaching, or they have an irreconcilable stance against the teachings of Jesus the Christ, or they have found something they think is wrong with Christianity.

Why Not?

People will come up with excuses as to why they will not believe in God.

For most of them, they have already totally made up their mind. Nothing would really make them change their stance. Most times, they have already painted themselves back into a corner, trapped by the words they have already said and ashamed to change them.

Painting one's self back into a corner

Shame

Such is one of the bondages we don't really know we are enslaved to. And there are many other things such as shame, that control and enslave us.

People accuse Christians as being closed minded, yet they overlook the fact that they are just as closed minded if not even more so themselves.

Jesus of Nazareth wanted everyone to think for themselves, to look and read at what has been written down and to judge them on their own, with an open mind as well as an open heart.

Supernatural

Everything is possible, even the supernatural. Science was created to study the natural not the supernatural. Scientists have no answer to the things that cannot be explained by science or by the human intellect. They will only deal with the things that are repeatable, observable and recordable. Scientists admit they have limitations, yet many act, shall we say godlike, projecting an image or protecting a reputation that they are always right and others who oppose them are always wrong. People cannot be right all the time as they cannot be wrong all of the time. Yes, like the proverbial broken watch which is still correct, by telling the correct time twice a day.

God is Above All Things

If people are honest to themselves, they should admit that there are things they cannot explain. And really they cannot disprove the existence of a God, One who is the Supreme Being, the Originator, the Main Source, the Prime Mover and the Beginning of all things.

People Look for Signs

Jesus of Nazareth (Yeshua) said there will not be a sign that shall be given, except for the sign He already did.

At another occasion, with the Pharisees listening to Him, Jesus told a story about two men who both died at the same time, one rich and one poor and they were speaking with Abraham. The rich man was asking Abraham if he can come back so he can warn his brothers about what is to happen after they die. Jesus continued on with the story:

Luke 16:29-31

“But Abraham says, ‘They have Moses and the Prophets. Let them listen to them.’

“But he said, ‘No, Father Abraham, but if someone from the dead goes to them, they will repent.’

“But Abraham said, ‘If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, neither will they be convinced even if someone rises from the dead!’”

Several prophets already foretold about Christ and what He will do, thousands of years before He did it. The prophesies have been written down and preserved through the centuries and those who studied their sacred writings have been waiting for the coming of the Prophesied Christ.

Mathematicians already computed the odds of a person fulfilling just a handful of these prophesies as highly improbable. Yet one man fulfilled not just a handful but all the prophesies, Jesus did.

Yes, some will still not believe, no matter what. Jesus came back from the dead and fulfilled all the other prophesies about the Christ. And before Jesus rose back from the dead, He had already called others back from the dead as well. His followers did the same thing after Him. These were all written down. Yet we will not even read about them. Such is the sign of a closed minded and a cold hearted person.

God already revealed and proven Himself. People just are asking for more yet they aren't really sure what it would really take for them to believe.
