New Year's Resolution #1

With each new year, comes the
promise of starting with a clean slate, moving on and letting go of hard feelings, frustrations and mistakes of the past.

I know, this is easier said than done. But, not impossible.

Everyone makes mistakes, hurt others, fall into bad habits, become bitter towards someone who has wronged them or upset over things that do not go their way.

New Year's Resolutions are what countless normal people decide to carry out at the start of the year, to better themselves or affect a change in their current situation or simply to start living differently and being happy.

One good way to start the new year is letting go of any bitterness towards anything or anyone, especially towards people who may have hurt you during the past year, in the recent past or even decades ago.

A good analogy is imagining yourself going to the airport to travel and live in another country and all you can bring with you are the bare neccesities.

This is what you really need to carry with you from your past into the new year, the new you, and your new way of living.

And it starts with letting go of any excess baggage weighing you down, a heavy heart, unforgiveness, hard feelings and frustrations over things we have no control over.

Life is a journey, and living every single day free from anger and disappointment especially towards someone who has treated you badly or unfairly is a great gift to give oneself this new year.

Happy new year, happy new you.

"Go ahead and be angry. You do well to be angry—but don’t use your anger as fuel for revenge. And don’t stay angry. Don’t go to bed angry. Don’t give the Devil that kind of foothold in your life." Ephesians 4:26-27

"Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult. On the contrary, repay evil with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing." 1 Peter 3:9
