Episodes of an old TV series titled Mission Impossible, and its movie adaptions all start with a recording of a voice command that goes something like "your mission, if you choose to accept it, is this...", and "this will self-destruct in 5 seconds." Then the countdown begins.

When the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, Jesus accepted His mission, of His own accord.

His followers, when they start believing Him, do the same thing. And they do the same out of their own personal decision, nothing is forced. And thus real believers sing: "I have decided..."

...no turning back, no turning back.

But guess what, there is no turning back, once you've really, really, really decided to follow Him, who is the Living Water, the Bread of Life, the Way, the Truth, the Light of the World, the Good Shepherd, Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace, Emmanuel, the King of Kings, and the Great I Am.

He who came down from Heaven, which we celebrate during this holiday season.

The book of John Chapter 6, summarizes this life choice of the impossible quite well.

It starts with Him, feeding the multitudes with nothing but scraps and surrounded by people who believed it could not be done. He then ups the ante as later on, He walks on water.

He then tells those who were following Him that, they only do so not because they saw the signs but because they ate the bread and the fish He gave them to eat.

He then moves on to teach (feed them) some heavy, meaty stuff, and the people who were listening were torn.

It was like they were listening to the recorded voice, "if you choose to accept".

So some decided not to accept the mission. The rest decided, yes they will. A few still who decided yes, woud have their own motives if not reservations.

But as in the beginning of the mission, like Jesus did, they all decided on their own. And that is the key. The Lord gives each one of us that recorded voice message.

So today, the Holy Spirit is gently asking us, have you made your decision yet?

And if you have accepted this mission of the impossible, He is asking... are you really all in?

The countdown is on.
