Continuing With the First Holy Week

"As he [Jesus] walked away from the Temple, one of his disciples said, “Teacher, look at that stonework! Those buildings!”

Jesus said, “You’re impressed by this grandiose architecture? There’s not a stone in the whole works that is not going to end up in a heap of rubble.”
Mark 13:1-2

It is not an accident that the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris almost got burned down yesterday, as it graphically illustrates this statement of Jesus.

Through the centuries, millions of French citizens have taken pride and millions of tourists visit Paris every year to marvel at the magnificence and the grandeur of this centuries old monument. But like what happened with or will eventually happen to all other old structures, those too will lose their majesty, as nothing will last forever.

Let us continue with this narrative of Mark, telling us what Jesus told His followers at that time that they were at the great Temple of Jerusalem, that first Holy Week.

Doomsday Deceivers

"Later, as he was sitting on Mount Olives in full view of the Temple, Peter, James, John, and Andrew got him off by himself and asked, “Tell us, when is this going to happen? What sign will we get that things are coming to a head?”

Jesus began, “Watch out for doomsday deceivers. Many leaders are going to show up with forged identities claiming, ‘I’m the One.’ They will deceive a lot of people. When you hear of wars and rumored wars, keep your head and don’t panic. This is routine history, and no sign of the end. Nation will fight nation and ruler fight ruler, over and over. Earthquakes will occur in various places. There will be famines. But these things are nothing compared to what’s coming." Mark 13:4-8

Jesus told His close followers of what will need to happen before the end of the world. It is important to note that many of the prophecies of Jesus and of Scriptures about the end days are already happening and as soon as all of the prophecies have been fulfilled, the end will come.

No one really should be surprised as even politicians and the scientific community are predicting that the end of the world is coming very soon -- basically the only thing bible believers and non-believers agree with.

Two things the bible adds is that all these terrible things need to take place

These end day events are like birth pains (labor pains), they are not the actual birth of a baby, but are the signs that the baby is coning.

And that in the end of days, there will be people who will deceive many.
