Wisdom

Wise In Your Own Eyes

"If you think you know it all, you’re a fool for sure;
real survivors learn wisdom from others."
Proverbs 28:26 MSG

In another translation, this verse says "It is foolish to follow your own opinions. Be safe, and follow the teachings of wiser people."

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. This is our basic human right. And being wise, we should respect everyone's opinions even if it is exactly opposite of our own.

We aren't that wise, meaning we aren't always right and everyone else against us, aren't always wrong.

And we shouldn't be that all knowing nor even wise in our own eyes, as there will always be a lot of other people wiser than us, a lot.

Book of Wisdom

Proverbs is one such book of "wise" sayings. This book is part of Old Testament Scriptures -- a book which consists of 31 chapters of nuggets of wisdom, attributed to a wise leader and King of his people, King Solomon.

This book has been a source of wisdom both for bible believers and non-believers for centuries.

Godly Wisdom

Scriptures tell us that if we lack wisdom, we should ask the God who made the universe (as James brother of Jesus wrote in James 1:5).

King Solomon was one such person who acknowledged that there is a Creator God who created the heavens and the earth, and everything else.

He was one who acknowledged that being the Supreme Being, the Prime Mover, Intelligent Designer, Our Maker, and the Beginning and the End, then it would be wise to ask Him for wisdom.

The Prophet Isaiah said, "what sorrow for those who are wise in their own eyes and think themselves so clever."

In fact the bible tells us that destruction will come to those who think they are so smart and who hold such a high opinion of themselves.

How crazy it would be to feel that way towards the One who made (created) you (your Maker).

Now, of course, anyone is free to believe that there is no Creator and everything was created by chance and that everything (good, bad and neutral) happens by this same reason -- by chance or by accident.

But I believe it is not by chance that you are reading this. And it is not by accident that you have stumbled upon and was able to read through this post.

But whether you believe that there is a God or not, is on you. No one should decide or dictate that on you or anyone else.

No one could be or should be that clever.
