Elementary Teaching 6

Milk 6

"Therefore let us leave the elementary teachings about Christ and go on to maturity, not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith in God, instruction about baptisms, the laying on of hands, the resurrection of the dead, and eternal judgment." Hebrews 6:1-3

Judgment

Everyone, deep in their gut know that there will be a Day of Reckoning. This day is when each one's karma catches up to them.

Christians believe in eternal judgment, but not in the way that most people think.

You see God already judged this world and had given it over to what each one desires.

God is not one to force anyone to do what is not in their heart to do. He doesn't need to do that. And why would He?

Freewill

Him is like a Father patiently waiting for a prodigal son or daughter to come to their senses.

Now in our Heavenly Father's ultimate grace, mercy and act of clemency, He offered His Son to take humankind's place of judgment, condemnation and death sentence -- One who everyone could turn to and who would be the Way back to Him.

One would now be free of eternal judgment upon believing and then accepting this gospel of peace, reconciliation and salvation.

Free Gift - Take It or Leave It

This salvation is a gift, and like any other gift is free for everyone to receive or reject.

Now the evidence of one who truly received it would be having the Holy Spirit take up residence inside the believer to change him or her from the inside out, everyday moving forward and looking forward to the Day when God's Son will appear a second time to take them back home.

This does not mean that they do not do no wrong. But what this means is that the still small voice of the Spirit of God living inside them is a convicting but not condemning voice, guiding them from within when they miss the mark. This voice would be hard to miss nor can anyone fake this.

The Holy Spirit is also their internal guide as they read through Scripture and as they interact with people.

The Day is Coming

Now the Apostle Peter wrote in his second letter to the early believers that:

"He [our Heavenly Father] is restraining himself on account of you, holding back the End because he doesn’t want anyone lost. He’s giving everyone space and time to change.

But when the Day of God’s Judgment does come, it will be unannounced, like a thief. The sky will collapse with a thunderous bang, everything disintegrating in a huge conflagration, earth and all its works exposed to the scrutiny of Judgment." 2 Peter 3:9-10

God is like that, He does not want anyone to perish but truly desires everyone to come to repentance, not forced but by their own volition, to accept His mercy and receive the gift of grace and forgiveness.

However, to those who do refuse to accept His gift of mercy, He will then be a Judge of justice -- righteous judgment.

Thus, the Day of Judgment -- eternal judgment. When? No one knows the day or the hour.

Hebrews 10:26-31

Right now, there is still time. Tomorrow or even in the next minute, we don't know.
