Word 6

The Word Becomes Human

"In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was already with God in the beginning.

Everything came into existence through him. Not one thing that exists was made without him." John 1:1-3

6th Part

This is the 6th message in this series. And again we are looking at the Apostle John's words.

In the Beginning

Before the world begun, there was the Word. The Word was with God. The Word was God.

Nothing that exists was made without the Word. Genesis 1 says "In the beginning God created heaven and earth. The Spirit of God was hovering over the water. Then God said, “Let there be light!” So there was light."

God (the Father) created heaven and earth. God (the Spirit) hovered over space. And God (the Word) was spoken. Everything that exists was "spoken" into existence.

6th Day

It is not without a reason that we will delve into these passages where a few verses later it says "The Word became human and lived among us". Why? Because it is also on the "6th day of creation" that God made humankind. On the 7th day, He rested.

God the Word

The Word who was in the beginning, who was God, and who was spoken to create heaven and the earth (and everything else which exists) became human.

God the Word became God the Son, so that we can identify with Him; so that we can see, touch and hear Him. And so that we can understand Him.

He was born as a human so that He can identify with us; so that He can see everything from our perspective, feel everything we feel, go through what we go through. And so He can understand us -- our temptations, our weaknesses, our pain, our sins.

God the Word became our sin so that we who are sinners will become righteous in God's (the Father's ) sight.

Our sins got nailed to the tree (the cross) and the punishment for them has been meted out. And that there is no double jeopardy. Justice was served -- paid in full.

Freedom

And so the Word brought freedom for the atonement Jesus carried out. The Word brought us life abundantly. And the Word brought us life everlasting.

Hallelujah!
