Pandemic Preaching - Hope in the Lord’s Faithfulness
Great Is Your Faithfulness
"But this I call to mind,
and therefore I have hope:
The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases;
his mercies never come to an end;
they are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness.
“The Lord is my portion,” says my soul,
“therefore I will hope in him.”
Lamentations 3:21-24
A Day At A Time
Yes, there was an old song that says "hold on for one more day".
There is a book titled "AA One Day At A Time".
And professional sports teams down 1-3 in a 7 game series only take it one game at a time -- for they cannot look at what's ahead, less they collapse and give up because of the enormity of their situation. And yes, at least one team who was down 1-3, won 3 straight, one game at a time and win their series, 4-3.
It could be done.
Hold Off For One More Day
This is why the Lord taught His disciples to pray like this.
"Give us this day our daily bread."
Yes it wasn't give us what we need for one year, or one decade. We don't know what's going to happen tomorrow, let's not get ahead of ourselved and worked up with worrying about that.
Today is the present, the gift that we need to open and appreciate. Let us take time to live the moment. Thank God for today and let Him worry about the future.
Didn't He say "Look at the birds; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them."
Science
I saw somewhere that scientists are stumped on why some birds cut their mating season short to migrate. The only reason they can come up with was that these birds can predict the weather three months ahead that even modern science cannot do. Meteorologists with all their modern gadgets cannot even predict accurately the weather one week ahead, how else 12 plus weeks away?
Everything Else But
So these people come up with all kinds of reasons to try to explain the unexplainable, because they don't want to acknowledge that there "might" be a God who might have just created everything.
But if they are at least open to the idea and they try to look and see what's hidden in the pages of the bible, the reason "might" actually be right there. The God of creation takes care of them. He tells those birds it is time to cut short their mating season (animals who have survived did so because of their ability to procreate, it does not make sense that species which cut their mating seasons would have survived, remember Darwin's theory. So that is more unlikely even to science).
So maybe what is more "believable" is that there is a higher form of being (like God) than birds able to accurately predict the weather three months ahead, better than all their modern scientific equipment.
God
So what did Jesus had to say about all these?
"Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own."
Let us read all about these in chapter 6 of the Book of Matthew.

Matthew 6:7-13, 6:26-27, 6:31-34
The Lamentations Verse In the Message Paraphrase
It’s a Good Thing to Hope for Help from God
But there’s one other thing I remember,
and remembering, I keep a grip on hope:
"God’s loyal love couldn’t have run out,
his merciful love couldn’t have dried up.
They’re created new every morning.
How great your faithfulness!
I’m sticking with God (I say it over and over).
He’s all I’ve got left."
