Advent - More Prophesies

"Therefore the Lord Himself shall give you a sign: behold, the young woman shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel (meaning God is with us)."
-Prophet Isaiah circa 740 BC
Isaiah 7:14

From the previous messages of this series, we have read about some of the lesser known prophets foretelling future events regarding the Messiah that were fulfilled after they were long gone.

Prophesied Messiah

These prophets have one more contemporary, the Prophet Isaiah who have spoken more prophecies that were written about the long awaited Christ.

One of the most quoted is Isaiah 7:14, the passage we read above. Gospel writers have alluded to this and several other prophesies of Isaiah that were all fulfilled in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus of Nazareth.

Staggering Amount of Prophecies

And there were hundreds of prophesies that have been written about the Savior of the world that was fulfilled with the coming and going of Jesus Christ.

These being all fulfilled in One person is among the most obvious of reasons why most Christian believers have placed their trust and confidence on their Christian faith.

What are the Odds

Many skeptics have been fascinated with this and some of them have tried to compute what is the probability of fulfilling each one of these prophesies.

They have figured out that for each one the odds of it happening would have been already small. But when they continued to add all of them together, one by one, the odds kept on getting exponentially smaller.

So even with just a handful of them being fulfilled all together, that will be close to improbable and couldn't have happened by chance or mere coincidence.

So while faith is still a measuring stick to believe who Jesus claimed who He is, science, mathematics and archaelogy will also all align so that the staunchest skeptic can be convinced if they so choose to keep an open mind and an open heart when and if they would try to seek for God or for the truth.
