Peter Goes to Cornelius

"The following day he entered Caesarea. Cornelius was waiting for them and had called together his relatives and close friends.

As Peter entered, Cornelius met him and fell down at his feet and worshiped him.

But Peter pulled him up, saying, “Stand up! I too am just a man.”

Acts 10: 24-26

[This is the 3rd lesson of this series]

God does not show favoritism. To Him we are all equal. And why not? All of us are created in His image and likeness.

But do not get me wrong, God shows favor to those He so chooses.

And first He shows favor to those who believes in His Son, those who God gave the right to become His children, co-heirs with Christ.

Worship

Thus Peter, one of the three closest disciples of Jesus told Cornelius to stop kneeling down to him, honoring and showing him worship. Peter told Cornelius, he is just like him. Worship is and should be, reserved only for God.

And we should be wary of this, the accolades of people. We shouldn't ever take God's glory for ourselves (Satan's downfall).

In everything we do for the Lord, we should always give Him the praise, the honor and the recognition.

Glory, honor, praise, and indeed worship is reserved for God. We are just His empty vessels, we are but His clay. He is the Potter.

When in everything we do, we give Him the glory, the Holy Spirit flows and works with us and in everything we do and say.

Spread of the Gospel

After Peter went to the house of Cornelius, the good news of Jesus spread out from their number, the Jewish people and to non-Jews. So the comand of Jesus for His disciples to bring the gospel to the ends of the earth started.

Today, all of us are still helping to reach into the still lost and unreached areas of the world, both online and out. And we give honor and worship to whom honor and worship is due. To God be all the glory, now and forever.

Acts 10:23-26 The Message Paraphrase

God Plays No Favorites

The next morning he got up and went with them. Some of his friends from Joppa went along. A day later they entered Caesarea. Cornelius was expecting them and had his relatives and close friends waiting with him. The minute Peter came through the door, Cornelius was up on his feet greeting him—and then down on his face worshiping him! Peter pulled him up and said, “None of that—I’m a man and only a man, no different from you.”

And this we see from one of a few who was with Jesus almost 24/7 during His three year earthly ministry -- the very one who Jesus said to "take care and feed my sheep."

Today, we are still looking for all the lost sheep all around the world. Together, let us work for that purpose.

Ephesians 2:8-10

God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.
