Post Pandemic Preaching - We Are Not in the Dark

"I don’t think, friends, that I need to deal with the question of when all this is going to happen. You know as well as I that the day of the Master’s coming can’t be posted on our calendars. He won’t call ahead and make an appointment any more than a burglar would. About the time everybody’s walking around complacently, congratulating each other—“We’ve sure got it made! Now we can take it easy!”—suddenly everything will fall apart. It’s going to come as suddenly and inescapably as birth pangs to a pregnant woman.

But friends, you’re not in the dark, so how could you be taken off guard by any of this? You’re sons of Light, daughters of Day. We live under wide open skies and know where we stand. So let’s not sleepwalk through life like those others. Let’s keep our eyes open and be smart. People sleep at night and get drunk at night. But not us! Since we’re creatures of Day, let’s act like it. Walk out into the daylight sober, dressed up in faith, love, and the hope of salvation."

1 Thessalonians 5:1-8 in The Message Paraphrase Version

[This is the 4th lesson of this series]

I believe there is a reason why TV producers, writers and film makers create nothing but zombie and end of the world scenarios because they really feel that humanity has lost touch with reality, we are all just the walking dead and it's only a matter of time until the world as we know it ends.

Living Dead

Now while the world are but zombies or the walking dead -- spiritually dead, many professing believers are spiritually asleep.

Many have been sleep-walking most of the time. Some are nothing but pawns, (dispensible/disposable) bit-players in this chess game of life, going about their daily grind, their routine business, and running in a rat race or busy trying to look cool or joining the in crowd.

And many others are happy, clappy Christians who are blessed blind. They have become spiritually asleep especially during the best of times.

God has been blessing me, so it's all good.

Now God allows certain things to take place to wake us up from this sleep -- the pandemic, rumors of wars, wars, calamities, lost of work, sicknesses, no toilet paper; slow wi-fi, no live streaming or online gaming service or whatever is needed.

Followers of Christ

But as true sons of Light and daughters of Day, believers live in the light, not in darkness.

In fact, a true Christ follower does not sleep. Even while naturally asleep, their spirit sings God praise and they dream heavenly dreams.

And as they awake from their bodily rest, they awake with a song of hope, of peace and joy in their lips and a holy expectarion that God already has something mapped out for them for the new day.

The catch is how to get onboard with His plan. And the Holy Spirit is the GPS, the navigating system. And Scriptures is the atlas, the book of maps and charts (or the old Thomas Guides).

End Days

It's time to wake up and keep watch, the Day of the Lord is coming. And there is much for us to do before the real night time comes and at that time no one can work. And the walking dead will die in their present condition unless someone tells them about the good news of salvation.

We Are Not in the Dark, But Many Are

Even praying for open doors of opportunities, offering to binge watch bible based shows such as The Chosen, mentoring, answering their questions and opening your homes for bible studies and life group meetings are ministry work especially in this day and time.
