Teaching - The (New) Way, What is Needed

A New and Living Way

"Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have confidence to enter the holy place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way which He inaugurated for us through the veil, that is, through His flesh, and since we have a great priest over the house of God,  let’s approach God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. Let’s hold firmly to the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful; and let’s consider how to encourage one another in love and good deeds, not abandoning our own meeting together, as is the habit of some people, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near."

Hebrews 10:19-25 in the New American Standard Bible Version

[This is the 29th lesson of this series]

According to the Jewish Scriptures, God has not always been unknown. Adam and Eve walked and talked with Him. This was the same down the line until Jacob was given a new name by God. Then God became increasingly "unseen".

Moses saw Him as a burning bush and through the cleft of a rock, and the last time, his face glowed for days. And he had to put a veil on his face.

Unveiled

From then on, God became veiled, and humankind only "saw" Him in dreams or in visions.

This was to be up until God was unveiled through the Person of Jesus of Nazareth.

All these has been written down and revealed in the pages of the Christian Scriptures. When we read the Christian bible, God is revealed to us. Jesus is the Word, the Word of God. He was in the beginning. He is God who became human flesh, so that humankind can again walk and talk with God.

For over three years, people up and down the Judean countryside walked with Him. They heard Him speak, laugh, cry, tell stories, tell jokes and He taught them many things they needed to know.

New High Priest

Jesus became our High Priest. He became the Way back to our heavenly Father, the God who was revealed in the pages of the Jewish Scriptures. He became the once and for all sacrifice to atone for the sins of the world and reconcile humankind with God. When He had done what He was supposed to do, the veil that separated the Holy of Holies was torn, opening up the Throne of God.

"Tetelestai" - It is finished

When we see Jesus, we see the face of God. When we do, our faces shine, we glow and other people notices it. We become the light in the dark world. But because humankind likes the darkness, many will not accept the Truth. It was the same then, as it is now.

We will continue, and talk more about this in the next lesson.
