A Cyber Church

What Is A Church?

Contrary to what some people think, a church should not refer to a physical building or structure.

Rather a church should properly be the assembly of the people within the place some people do call as a church.

Cyber Church

So in reality, people do not really need a physical place to be in to say that they went to "church".

In fact it is not really logical to say that you went to church when in fact you are the church -- or you are a part of the body of people who make up the church.

If you think about it, many different circumstances do prevent certain people from being physically present at a specific place at a specific time. If this describes where you are now, then in comes to the rescue this concept of a virtual church.

What is this? This is a virtual place not really existing in the physical world but just the same existing, although in the cyber world, hence a cyber church. This shouldn't be too hard to grasp as people in churches do talk about spiritual things not of this physical world.

Actually, right now, as you read this, an actual person have actually written up all this for you. And both of you are in a virtual assembly (a local church) in cyber space. Take note, you by yourself is not a church. But two or three (and more) gathered in the Lord's name is one.

A Local Church

The writer of the Book of Hebrews said "let us not give up meeting together" which the early Christian believers did.

Nowhere in the New Testament does it say to come together other than in this passage*.

So if you do not have a local church that you go to or to physically be in, then you can consider this place to be your "church".

Welcome!  And come as you are...

"For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.” Jesus (Matthew 18 NIV)

* "Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another." (Hebrews 10:25a NIV)
