Jesus Invited To A Party

A Wedding At Cana

Jesus made many shocking comments but in fairness he did pull off many out-of-this-world stunts that seem to back up his claims. Or if anything else, put David Copperfield and David Blaine, 21st century magic men to shame or out of business.

According to one of the followers of Jesus, a man named John, the first "miracle" that Jesus performed was to make wine out of water (some historians argue that he made beer instead but lets go with wine). And this happened at a wedding, he, his family and his followers were invited to. Let's read the story here.

Water Turned to Wine

On the third day there was a wedding in Cana of Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there. Now both Jesus and His disciples were invited to the wedding. And when they ran out of wine, the mother of Jesus said to Him, “They have no wine.”

Jesus said to her, “Woman, what does your concern have to do with Me? My hour has not yet come.”

His mother said to the servants, “Whatever He says to you, do it.”

Now there were set there six waterpots of stone, according to the manner of purification of the Jews, containing twenty or thirty gallons apiece. Jesus said to them, “Fill the waterpots with water.” And they filled them up to the brim. And He said to them, “Draw some out now, and take it to the master of the feast.” And they took it. When the master of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and did not know where it came from (but the servants who had drawn the water knew), the master of the feast called the bridegroom. And he said to him, “Every man at the beginning sets out the good wine, and when the guests have well drunk, then the inferior. You have kept the good wine until now!”

This beginning of signs Jesus did in Cana of Galilee, and manifested His glory; and His disciples believed in Him.  John 2 NKJV

The Best Is Yet To Come

As you can see, even back in the day, people will not believe until they see it with their own eyes -- much like us in the 21st century. If anything else, we have grown even more skeptical because some things even if we do see it with our own eyes, we still don't want to believe them.

Anyway, surprise, surprise -- Jesus went to parties. And he wasn't a party-pooper to boot. If you remember from yesterday's story when the ran-away son came back home, his father didn't get upset but instead called for a feast (in other words -- a party). This was the same thing with the man who found his long lost sheep. You see there is always a great rejoicing when something that was lost is found again.

And the deeper implication is that it might not feel like it but the best is yet to come. Remember it sure is dark and it does feel bad when the storm is directed over-head. But once the storm passes, the sky will eventually clear again, the sun will soon be back up, the flood waters will recede and the worse will be over. (Noah knows this all too well).

This is true with the worries and the troubles you are in right now. It sure might not look so pretty. But who knows the "good wine" will might just be waiting at the next turn.

You Are Also Being Invited To A Party, Are You Coming?

In his time here on earth, Jesus also talked about another wedding feast (a banquet) in the future. And he also spoke of mansions with lots of rooms he has gone back to, to prepare for those who listened to his words and followed him.

Now if everything he said was true, then really in the end of our days, the best is still yet to come. And if today you woke up, looked up and saw the sun was up then this could be the start of your best day yet. Go for it.

"Hallelujah! For our Lord God Almighty reigns.
Let us rejoice and be glad and give him glory!
For the wedding of the Lamb has come, and his bride has made herself ready.
Fine linen, bright and clean, was given her to wear.”
(Fine linen stands for the righteous acts of God’s holy people.)

Then the angel said to me,
“Write this: Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding supper of  the Lamb!”
Revelation 19 NIV
