The Story of the Lost Son

Parables

2,000 years ago there was a remarkable man we now call as Jesus of Nazareth who went around teaching everyone who wanted to listen to him. Many times he taught them using stories -- stories we now call as parables.

Here are a few of these stories. Listen to them here first.

Note: when the pop-up window comes out and the narrator starts to speak, be sure to click on the box next to Continuous Play -- otherwise the stories will go on forever.

He Was Lost And Is Found

I don't know about you but the father wasn't really all that concerned with his "obedient" elder son. In fact he was all about his younger son who disobeyed him and most probably broke his heart.

If you have listened to the stories (click on the link above if you haven't),
you will notice the same thing about the man who owned a hundred sheep who left the other 99 sheep who stayed with him as he went out to look for the lone lost sheep.

And what did they do when they have finally found the one they have lost? Yes they went about rejoicing... partying even. They did not reprimand the lost one who ran away -- remembering nothing of the past, and letting bygones be bygones.

Are You Lost?

Are you like that lost son? We all have been at one time or another.

If you have gone away for some time now, you probably do not even know that someone has been eagerly waiting for you to come back home.

Come back here from time to time to find out more about what this is all about.

Remember whatever you might have done in the past, you are always welcome here. Shalom.

"For the Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost.” Luke 19 NIV

When the Pharisees saw this, they asked his disciples, “Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?”

On hearing this, Jesus said, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’ For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.” Matthew 9 NIV
