Quiet Time - God is Speaking

"For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword—piercing right through to a separation of soul and spirit, joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart."

Hebrews 4:12

[This is the 25th message in this series]

Quiet Times with the Lord is mostly about us telling God about our day, our highs and lows, our joys and sorrows, our hopes and dreams, our questions or hesitations, and us knowing that as a loving Father, He is always there waiting to listen and to give good advice.

Be Still

Now our quiet times with the Lord can really be quiet. It is a place and time to breathe in peace and tranquility, a time of refreshing, rejuvenation. In the silence is a moment to be still and to wait upon the Lord.

And it is also a time for listening. God is speaking. He has always been speaking, and He still is speaking, through everything, all around us.

Romans 1:19-20

"because that which is known about God is evident within them [in their inner consciousness], for God made it evident to them. For ever since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through His workmanship [all His creation, the wonderful things that He has made], so that they [who fail to believe and trust in Him] are without excuse and without defense."

No Excuse

Yes, we have no excuse for not listening. Plus God speaks ever so loudly in His word. Christ is The Word who was made flesh. He came down and became a living, breathing person, someone we can see, hear, smell and touch.

The first church, the first believers were first hand eye-witnesses to the living and loving God. They saw Him resurrected and then ascend back to heaven. And He told them to go out and testify about what they have seen and heard, to go and tell everyone to the ends of the world about Him, and that He will return.

Today we listen to the same God by reading the words written down by these eye-witnesses as recorded in the pages of the Christian Scriptures. And confirmed when we ask the Spirit of God.

Let us start our day with a moment with God.

This is what we meant when we say "quiet time". God is speaking, the question is do we have the time to listen.
