The Death of Jesus "From the sixth hour until the ninth hourf darkness came over all the land. At the ninth hour, Jesus cried out in a loud voice, “Eloi, Eloi, lema sabachthani?” which means, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?” When some of those standing nearby heard this, they said, “Behold, He is calling Elijah.” And someone ran and filled a sponge with sour wine. He put it on a reed and offered it to Jesus to drink. “Wait!” he said. “Let us see if Elijah comes to take Him down.” But Jesus let out a loud cry and breathed His last. And the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. It is Finished!

Israel Early First Century Scriptures have foretold the savior of this fallen world. And it was recorded in the Old Testament Bible or the bible of the Jews. The New Testament records the life of Jesus and it shows us that the prophesies that were written long before he was born were fulfilled and culminated on the cross of Calvary on what we now call as Good Friday about 2,000 years ago. Let us read that from the writings of John: From John 19 (New King James) It Is Finished After this, Jesus, knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the Scripture might be fulfilled, said,  “I thirst!”   Now a vessel full of sour wine was sitting there; and they filled a sponge with sour wine, put  it  on hyssop, and put  it  to His mouth. So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said,  “It is finished!”  And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit.
