New Year's Resolution #4

After having touched on the essentials in this series, I think today, we need to consider munching on practical little nuggets of truths and little things to help us along in our little journey we call life. Back in the early 1990s I got started with the "wonders" of electronic mail, BBS bulletin boards and the world wide web. From then on having access to information got easier and easier for everyone. Today a quarter century later, most people cannot even imagine going through life without it. Back in the pre PC, Mac, tablet and smartphone era, there were just books and other related materials brought about by the invention of the printing press and other innovations since then, such as the radio, the television and other forms of mass media and communications. Before that, everything was recorded by hand and some kind of writing tool, and some of these writings we still have copies today. One of the oldest writings people still read today and are still relevant we

New Year's Resolution #3

This is the third in this series, not sure why each new post is getting longer and longer but if you can, take time to read to the end, and to read the first two parts of this series, if you missed it. So after having touched on the past and the present, let's talk about something concerning the future. Many of us may think that life is good or that there is a whole lot of good in people. But the reality is that life is not always good, no far from it, and people by nature are anything but good. And yes, even if we try hard enough, we cannot be Mother Teresa or at least our concept of her. And we are not even talking about our private lives, or that part of us that no one other than ourselves know about. People who believe in a Higher-Power or a Creator-God will agree that everything is governed by a Supreme-Being and people, being created beings themselves are not all-knowing and are governed themselves and apart from this Creator, people cannot really be what they were

New Year's Resolution #2

Continuing with this series, once we have moved on from the past that may be holding us back, we can now start to try to be mindful of the present. If there is one thing that is a little hard to control with what we do on a daily basis, it is being aware of the words we say and how we say them towards everyone we get in contact with. And it is hard, mainly because we tend to be reactionary, such as we fight fire with fire and of course we may be having a bad hair day, had a rough night, or having a tough week or a rough patch and we aren't really in any mood or have the time to be cordial. Now, what we need to remember, is that most people are like us, okay, when we are our normal selves. And it really isn't hard to realize that most people will react or respond back with kindness if not in a positive way to anyone who treats them right. Using kind words, especially to ask for help or a favor is really a no brainer. We just need to make it a habit or to do it without

With each new year, comes the promise of starting with a clean slate, moving on and letting go of hard feelings, frustrations and mistakes of the past. I know, this is easier said than done. But, not impossible. Everyone makes mistakes, hurt others, fall into bad habits, become bitter towards someone who has wronged them or upset over things that do not go their way. New Year's Resolutions are what countless normal people decide to carry out at the start of the year, to better themselves or affect a change in their current situation or simply to start living differently and being happy. One good way to start the new year is letting go of any bitterness towards anything or anyone, especially towards people who may have hurt you during the past year, in the recent past or even decades ago. A good analogy is imagining yourself going to the airport to travel and live in another country and all you can bring with you are the bare neccesities. This is what you really need

New Year! New You?

New Year's Resolution Every new year brings in a new opportunity to be a new if not better you. But year in and year out our new year's resolutions only last a few weeks, if not a few days. And then when the inevitable happens -- when we break our resolution, we end up feeling bad and quit trying to be a better person until the next new year. And each year it's the same new determination to do good or to be good, and most times, the same results, disappointment. What most people have yet to realize is that by ourselves,  we cannot be good.  We can try but then eventually we stumble,  we falter and we fail.  And because of that,  so many of us just quit trying altogether. Real Change 2nd Corinthians 5:17 says, If anyone belongs to Christ, there is a new creation. The old things have gone,  everything is made new!  (NCV)  If we allow God, He will change us from the inside out and real and lasting change happens. It's not like we just put on new clothes,
