Quiet Time #7 - Fighting Fire with Fire

Jesus Prays in a Solitary Place

"Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed."
Mark 1:35 NIV

Jesus took time out by Himself and spent it with our Heavenly Father, very early in the morning.

This fact has been well documented numerous times by those who were with Him during His earthly ministry. Many times He did so after an exhausting day, other times right before He performed something miraculous, or both.

It is not hard to see that He gets the strength to carry on from these "quiet times", alone with Our Father as He continuously seeks guidance for the new day and as He gives thanks for the one that just ended (and also giving thanks for what's going to happen).

Pattern

Jesus shows us this blueprint as our guide to which we can pattern our day to day ministry.

Scriptures says, our battle is not against flesh and blood but against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil. This is why our day to day response is not to fight with our own flesh or with our own strength but to face the battle and to fight our adversary with the power of our Almighty Father as shown us by Jesus Himself, by God's Word, God's promises and God's constant presence and guidance.
