The Enemy's Gameplan
"Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour." 1 Peter 5:8
Life is hard. How many times have we heard people say this. We probably said it ourselves. But guess what, it wasn't meant to be. It's just in this broken world we live it, everything needs mending.
The Good News is that there was Someone who came down from heaven, fixed us and died for us to have life and to have it abundantly.
Contrast this with the enemy's game plan -- prowling around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. John the Beloved Disciple wrote, "the thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy".
You know what's funny though. The devourer (or the roaring lion) shouldn't really be able to catch anyone off guard. Why? Because it prowls around "roaring" -- not really a sound strategy.
I mean wise people (including those who are alert and sober) should be able to hear it a mile away and one would think, be able to take evasive action.
But don't get me wrong, the devourer can and do cause a lot of damage, yes in spite of, as well as because of all the "roaring" it does. Because, as we know we live in this broken world where it has dominion.
How then and why can it devour people you may ask? In a simplistic way, because some people cannot easily distinguish between the truth and the counterfeit. Jesus is the Lion of the tribe of Judah. The counterfeit is not even a lion but 'prowls like one' -- big difference, once you really think about it.
Most people aren't aware of its schemes which Apostle Paul wrote to us to warn us about in his writings, which is mainly how it deceives and outwits the unsuspecting person. When we fail to study the letters of Paul, then we fail to be informed of its schemes
Also with all the noise, confusion, disturbances the enemy causes and all the lies it spews out, people can slowly and surely get ensnared.
And it all starts when it has managed to inflict fear and plant doubt. Then it can move on its grand plan of stealing people's peace, hope, dreams, freedom and their joy.
People without peace of mind, people who have become hopeless, dreamless, nothing to live for and fearful of doing what they ought to be doing, and people who have lost their inner joy, are almost pretty much done for.
And once the devourer's little schemes work, then the killing and the destruction is inevitable, completing its game plan. Be informed, wise up and do not be one of its victims.
