Thank You Pharisees, Sadducees, Scribes and Teachers of the Law

The Story of the Lost Sheep

"By this time a lot of men and women of doubtful reputation were hanging around Jesus, listening intently. The Pharisees and religion scholars were not pleased, not at all pleased. They growled, “He takes in sinners and eats meals with them, treating them like old friends.” Their grumbling triggered this story.

“Suppose one of you had a hundred sheep and lost one. Wouldn’t you leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness and go after the lost one until you found it? When found, you can be sure you would put it across your shoulders, rejoicing, and when you got home call in your friends and neighbors, saying, ‘Celebrate with me! I’ve found my lost sheep!’ Count on it—there’s more joy in heaven over one sinner’s rescued life than over ninety-nine good people in no need of rescue."
Luke 15:1-7

This is the Season of Thanksgiving or giving thanks.

At the same time it is the Advent Season or the time to remember and celebrate the arrival of the Savior King -- now the 7th message in this series of messages*.

Thank You?

Not for a moment would I think that I would be thanking the sometimes hypocritical and often times self-righteous religious leaders (Pharisees, Sadducees Scribes and Teachers of the Law) of Jesus time.

But I guess, I am mistaken. For nothing is impossible with God and He can use anything and everything for His good purpose.

From the passage above, because of these "religious" leaders and their constant grumbling, grandstanding and fault-finding, Jesus was prompted to tell of the beautiful story of the lost sheep -- the story about you and me. (Not at all about those religious and legalistic blind-leading the blind leaders).

Incidentally, this story of the Lost Sheep was the basis for this Cyber Church.

You Were Lost!

The Lord didn't come for all the other 99 sheep who didn't lose their way. No, He came for the one (lost) sheep.

He came for you. Not those who think they have it all together and most especially not for those who think they have no need of Him.

He came for you, and now that God has found you, the whole of heaven rejoices with Him. Thank you Jesus!

"And we know that God works all things together for the good of those who love Him, who are called according to His purpose." Romans 8:28
