Lent - 24th Day

Peter’s Confession of Christ

"Then Jesus and His disciples went on to the villages around Caesarea Philippi. On the way, He questioned His disciples: “Who do people say I am?”

They replied, “Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, one of the prophets.”

“But what about you?” Jesus asked. “Who do you say I am?”

Peter answered, “You are the Christ.”

And Jesus warned them not to tell anyone about Him."
Mark 8:27-30

Continuing on with our 40 day journey reading through the Book of Mark. I trust you have been reading with us.

If so, you would have noticed that we skipped a few verses. These are about another healing. We could read that on our own.

For today we will read about Peter's revelation. Peter was the de facto right hand man of Jesus. And not because he was the best among His closest followers. If anything, he was among the least. And not that the others were better. Every single one of them had their own weaknesses.

Peter's were, that he is impulsive. He talks too much. And his passion gets the better of him. He barks and he couldn't back it up.

Divine Revelation

But in the passage above, Jesus was amazed at Peter and this does not happen often, in fact very rarely. Might be even, just this one time.

Why? Because for the first time he didn't run his big mouth with his usual bravado. But rather he spoke with words that weren't of human origin. He spoke of something he would have never known.

He said that Jesus was the Anointed One, the Chosen One, the Messiah, the Son of the Most High God, the Christ.

Not Yet

But Jesus told them not to reveal this yet to anyone. There will be a proper time for it. And who knows for some of us, today might be just that perfect time.

What does this revelation mean? And more importantly, what does this mean to you? Let's find out, continue to join us in this 40 day journey, for just that purpose. It's not that you have anything better to do anyway.

Think about it this, there would probably be no other more opportune time than right now.

I pray to see you back here soon.

40 Days

And although we are already half way into this 40 day Lenten journey, I pray that even if you weren't able to start with us, you still could join up by reading two days instead of one per day, praying, fasting and abstaining from activities that we could do without.

It is not too late, please start from Day 1 if you haven't.

As we've said before, the Lord is patient, He does not want anyone to be left behind, and He is giving everyone a chance to come to know Him. And this could be our last chance to.
