40 Days After the Resurrection

"In my first book*, O Theophilus, I wrote about all that Jesus began to do and to teach, until the day He was taken up to heaven, after giving instructions through the Holy Spirit to the apostles He had chosen. After His suffering, He presented Himself to them with many convincing proofs that He was alive. He appeared to them over a span of forty days and spoke about the kingdom of God." Acts 1:1-3

In our last series (40 Days of Lent) we ended it with Jesus resurrecting from a death on the cross.

Lenten Series

After that 40 day period, another 40 day period started as Jesus appeared alive, in the flesh to several hundreds of people multiple times.

We will look into these events as we read through the first chapter of the Book of Acts and a few other verses from the concluding parts of the gospels of Matthew, John and Luke and another series.

Now as we have already talked about from the Lent series, none of the early believers believed that Jesus rose from the dead. But after having appeared to them for a period of 40 days, all of them finally believed.

Then a handful of them wrote down their eye witness accounts for future generations and they spent the remainder of their lives spreading the good news of Jesus of Nazareth.

We will look into all these as we continue our study into Christ and Christianity.

Dedication to Theophilus

"Many have undertaken to compose an account of the things that have been fulfilled among us, just as they were handed down to us by the initial eyewitnesses and servants of the word. Therefore, having carefully investigated everything from the beginning, it seemed good also to me to write an orderly account for you, most excellent Theophilus, so that you may know the certainty of the things you have been taught."
