Lent - Day 32nd

Jesus Heals Bartimaeus

"Next, they came to Jericho. And as Jesus and His disciples were leaving Jericho with a large crowd, a blind beggar named Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, was sitting beside the road. When he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!”

Many people admonished him to be silent, but he cried out all the louder, “Son of David, have mercy on me!”

Jesus stopped and said, “Call him.”

So they called the blind man. “Take courage!” they said. “Get up! He is calling for you.”

Throwing off his cloak, Bartimaeus jumped up and came to Jesus.

“What do you want Me to do for you?” Jesus asked.

“Rabboni,” said the blind man, “let me see again.”

“Go,” said Jesus, “your faith has healed you.” And immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus along the road."
Mark 10:46-52

Continuing our Lenten series -- we are now coming up to our last week of reading through the Book of Mark.

It is just fitting that we read about Bartimaeus, son of Timaeus -- a blind man whom Jesus healed.

Why? Because even today, Jesus is asking each one of us, Barabbas, or sons of the father (did you see what I did there -- if not, you soon will), -- us who are blind, "what do you want me to do for you"?

Yes, please Lord, "let me be able to see again".

Many will try to stop us, like they did this blind man named Bartimaeus. But when we persevere, we too shall see...

And because, we want to and because we asked of Him... we shall. And then we shall follow Him.

We will continue this Lenten series and tomorrow it will be Palm Sunday. We pray that you will continue to join with us, as we to get to know Christ, spending quiet time with Him, praying and fasting. And let us finish this 40 day journey together. Shalom.
