Last Days

‘In the last days,’ God says,
‘I will pour out my Spirit upon all people.
Your sons and daughters will prophesy.
Your young men will see visions,
and your old men will dream dreams.
In those days I will pour out my Spirit
even on my servants—men and women alike—
    and they will prophesy.
And I will cause wonders in the heavens above
and signs on the earth below—
blood and fire and clouds of smoke.
The sun will become dark,
and the moon will turn blood red
before that great and glorious day of the Lord arrives.
But everyone who calls on the name of the Lord
    will be saved.’ Acts 2:17-21

As we have been reading the Book of Acts, we have been seeing how it was like during the time of the first Church.

The first time Peter preached, he spoke about the reality of Jesus Christ. Telling those who were there, things they already know about including some that they may have overlooked or have failed to totally understand.

He spoke of things that have already taken place and those currently happening, but he also spoke of things to come, particularly those of the last days, as we read above.

Signs

What are those signs? There are at least five.

1. Outpouring of the Spirit of God.

It started that first day of the Church. But it is yet to come that God's Spirit will be poured out into all men. When it finally does, then we would know the end of days has come.

2. People will prophesy (they will be able to foresee things that will happen in the future). The young will see it through visions and the old through dreams. The young and the old, the rich and the poor, women and men.

3. There will be signs that will be seen from the sky -- blood, fire and smoke.

4. The sun will be dark.

5. The moon will be red.

And then we will know that we are in the last days.

These will be the signs before the day that Jesus promised them -- the Day of the Lord, when He will come back again.
