Quiet Time - Alone With God

'One day Jesus was in a city where there was a man covered with a serious skin disease. When the man saw Jesus, he bowed with his face to the ground. He begged Jesus, “Sir, if you want to, you can make me clean.”

Jesus reached out, touched him, and said, “I want to. So be clean!” Immediately, his skin disease went away.

Jesus ordered him, “Don’t tell anyone. Instead, show yourself to the priest. Then offer the sacrifice as Moses commanded as proof to people that you are clean.”

The news about Jesus spread even more. Large crowds gathered to hear him and have their diseases cured. But he would go away to places where he could be alone for prayer.'

Luke 5

[This is the 23rd message in this series]

This is what we meant when we say "quiet time".

Jesus did the preaching, the healing and the miraculous in the front end but in the back, He goes away by Himself... to be alone and have quiet moments with Our Abba Father.

[Away from the limelight and the spotlight, away from the paparazzi, away from the cheers, away from the jeers, away from prying eyes and gossiping lips, away from being the center of attention and back to a safe place of refuge, renewal and revival]

If there was one thing Jesus of Nazareth constantly did when He was on earth that we need to know about or take a second look at, it was His habit of having quiet times of refreshing.

Being in a human body, had its limitations but spending quiet times with Our God, Our Father in heaven is like a smart phone, tablet or laptop being left alone to be charged back up at night and when the morning comes, like that of our electronic devices, we are back to full strength and ready to do what we are made for and need to do -- helping us not to get lost in the "busyness" and the "work" that we do.
