Pandemic Preaching - Full Circle

Before Jesus went to the cross, He told His disciples to:

"Go to the people of all nations and make them my disciples. Baptize them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and teach them to do everything I have told you. I will be with you always, even until the end of the world." Mathew 28:19-20

And then after appearing to them on various occasions for 40 days, after having risen back out from the tomb, He told them:

“And now I will send the Holy Spirit, just as my Father promised. But stay here in the city until the Holy Spirit comes and fills you with power from heaven.” Luke 24:49

The original disciples of Jesus did that. Now Jesus didn't come to start a religion. He didn't start a church or built a church building.

The Church

The people who believe in Him is the church. And wherever believers got together and met in Jesus' name, there He was in the middle of it -- His holy presence, the Promised Holy Spirit.

They met in homes, encouraged one another, prayed for one another, sang songs and they went out to talk about Jesus, to reach those who still have not heard about Him. And the authorities ordered them to stop talking about Christ.

After this, the first disciples started to go out into all nations. When they died, they passed the baton to the next generation of teachers, who passed it on, and on, up until today.

Enemy We Cannot See

With the pandemic, believers  have gone full circle. They left their church buildings and once again they started to meet in homes. But now using Zoom and social media apps and platforms. They pray, sing songs, do communion, and all sorts of things Jesus taught His original disciples to do.

Now believers are reaching people in all nations. Now they are teaching unreached people what Jesus told His original disciples to do, doing what they originally were doing.

And also finally sharing Christ in the way this new world is used to doing things -- the only way to reach the people of this day and age, using their gadgets and their technology.

New Generation

So let us Zoom and Youtube away. Let us tweet, Instagram and do Facebook live. Let us hashtag and share God's Word. Let us like and follow. And more importantly let us pray, sing songs of praise, with a joyful, hopeful and thankful heart and teach and learn about Jesus, until the end of this world.

Everyone knows the end is coming. It is the only thing both believers and non believers agree on, their only common ground.
