Gospel - Teaching the Gospel

"Having many things to write to you, I did not wish to do so with paper and ink; but I hope to come to you and speak face to face, that our joy may be full."
-The Apostle John, writing to the first believers, 1st century
2 John 1:12 in the New King James Version

[This is the 6th message in this series]

Continuing with this series, with the first five messages we went through the first letter of John addressed to the second generation and for all of us succeeding generations of believers.

In this 6th lesson, we are taking a portion from John's 2nd letter where he wrote the things that he wanted to tell the new batch of believers. There were a few more than he didn't want to put on paper because he wanted to come and tell them in person.

With God, it is always what you can do in the present time. At the time, John can only write what he wanted to say. And that was what he did. It turned out to be a wise choice as these letters were preserved and passed down through generations of believers.

But becaise John didn't want to write everything he wanted to say, so his 2nd was a short one. There was a third letter and that was a short message as well, especially when we compare it to the first one.

What we can take from this short excerpt is that John had the option to either write down wbat he needed to say or to come in person and speak to them directly. This was how he taught the Gospel of Christ. Something that we are still doing today.

We, as well should not waste a moment or an opportunity to write or speak what the Holy Spirit is leading us to tell others. This is how we bring the gospel to the ends of the earth.
