Prayer - Looking Ahead

Pressing toward the Goal

"I don’t mean to say that I have already achieved these things or that I have already reached perfection. But I press on to possess that perfection for which Christ Jesus first possessed me. No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us."

Philippians 3:12-14

[This is the 10th and last message in this short series]

At one tine we were all living lives apart from God. As Christians, we were reborn and have become new creations. We received the right to be called God's children, co-heirs with Christ.

Each day we learn more about our new life in Christ and we start to live more and more like Christ did. For some it could be baby steps to achieve that, and that is okay as long as we know where we started from and we do not lose track of where we are headed.

Quiet Time

Each day we start it in the secret place -- our quiet time with the Lord. Some days we might skip this appointment with Our Father in heaven (for whatever reason), but let us move on and keep in step with the Spirit of God during the rest of the day. And then let us meet with God in our quiet time as we lay down to rest from our day.

Every morning let us be focused on our goal -- the goal God's Spirit is beckoning us to and calling on to us saying "come follow Me".

Daily He calls us because we are by no means perfect and will never be until we do as Jesus did.

We will stumble and make mistakes but we always look forward not behind and each day we come closer to reaching the finish line, the end of our race here on earth and move on to receive our heavenly prize.
