The Gospel - The Book Written By Luke

'And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee. And reports about Him went out through all the surrounding region.

And He taught in their synagogues and was glorified by all.

And He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up, and according to His custom He entered on the Sabbath day into the synagogue and stood up to read.

And the scroll of the prophet Isaiah was handed to Him. And He unrolled the scroll and found the place where it was written,

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to announce the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to proclaim release to the captives, and recovery of sight to the blind, to send away in release those who are oppressed,

To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, the year of jubilee.

And when He rolled up the scroll and gave it back to the attendant, He sat down. And the eyes of all in the synagogue were fixed on Him.

And He began to say to them, Today this Scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing.

And all bore witness to Him and marveled at the words of grace proceeding out of His mouth, and they said, Is not this Joseph’s son?'

Luke 4:14-22 in the Recovery Version

[This is the 5th message of this series]

We will continue this series and introduce the book written by one of the followers of Jesus, named Luke.

The readers of the Christian bible will find Luke's name mentioned in three letters written by Paul. These are in the letter to the Colossians, and the letters to Tmothy and Philemon.

Luke accompanied Paul in his missionary journeys. Luke wrote all about Paul's trips in the Book of Acts and only referred to himself as the companions of Paul in those missionary trips.

Luke was a doctor and wanted to write an orderly account of what has taken place regarding Jesus of Nazareth.

Let us watch this summation of the first nine chapters of the Book of Luke.
