The Gospel - The Book Written By Matthew

"“Blessed are the merciful,
for they shall be shown mercy.
“Blessed are the pure in heart,
    for they shall see God.
“Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they shall be called sons of God.
“Blessed are those who have been persecuted for the sake of righteousness,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven."

-Jesus of Nazareth, excerpt from the Sermon on the Mount, 1st century
Matthew 5:7-10 in the Tree of Life Version

[This is the 2nd message of this series]

In this series of lessons we are going more into the gospels -- the stories about Jesus of Nazareth written in the land which Jesus walked for those living far away and for us in the future.

Let us watch this summation of the first 13 chapters of the Book of Matthew.

Matthew was a tax collector and if you know anything about tax collectors in that day and time, you wouldn't choose one to be your student, let alone choose one to write your memoirs. But with God, we should always expect the unexpected. It's the only way we would know that no human planned all these.

Today's a great day to read this book or listen to the audio bible version.

As we've talked about in the previous message, there are so much to learn and understand about this subject matter and things are just starting to be interesting.

Jesus of Nazareth is Emmanuel, God with us. The Christ, the Messiah prophesied for hundreds of years. Jesus fulfilled the hundreds of written Messianic prophesies and Matthew in his book wrote about these and many other things about Jesus.

God lived with us, among us in human form. It is hard for our human mind to comprehend this but this is most probably the only way for our limited faculties to begin to understand who God is.

The catch is for all of us living today, we need to read the gospels first for us to even start to understand all these God stuff.
