The Gospel - Tieing It All Up

"Jesus answered, “It is written:"

Matthew 4:4a in the New International Version

To understand why the first followers of Jesus unbelievably dropped everything to follow Christ and even died for the gospel, we need to know what was their condition was at the time, as well as what were the things that took place leading up to that point. Everything that needs to be known about all these things can be known and were written down.

It is also written down in the old Jewish Scriptures, although somehow hidden in the stories and the events, and in the biblical characters.

If we read the Jewish bible today, then we would say that they pretty much look like a book of fables, myths and legends. They may be, but what makes us believe other myths and legends written in other places at other times, but not those? Most, if not all legends were based in truth. Most of us are just biased and selective in what we want to believe in.

Bible

The Christian Scriptures was written much later but is still old, it is almost 2,000 years old. It contains the Gospel of the Kingdom of God, revealed in the person of Jesus Christ, born in Bethlehem, grew up in Galilee and known as Jesus of Nazareth. The Christian bible ties everything we need to know together, as it weaves the fabric, completes the pattern, and paints the portrait for us to see the whole picture (if we care to find out).

When we read it then we can begin to understand why the first followers did what they did. And why they wrote down what they wrote. Everything could have died down after all of them died out. But that wasn't what happened.

The books in the Christian bible were meant for people far away (those they couldn't personally speak to) and for people in the future so we can all read what was written.

Besides Jesus said "it is written", how will we know what, without the Scriptures?

Today, we can also listen to audios and watch videos:

It is all available for us.

People believe because they have started to understand what was going on, and what it was all about. People do not believe what they don't know, or do not understand, or they don't care to do both.

It is our own personal choice to make.
