Post Pandemic Preaching - The Final Frontier

"When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers,
the moon and the stars, which You established—
what is man, that You are mindful of him?
And the son of man, that You care for him?
Yet You made him a little lower than the angels,
and crowned him with glory and majesty!
You gave him dominion over the works of Your hands.
You put all things under their feet:"

Psalm 8:4-7 in the Tree of Life Bible Version

[This is the 22nd lesson of this series]

We are living in exciting times. The increase in knowledge, discovery and exploration has been unprecendented.

The most powerful human made telescope has just shown the world the most vivid images from deep space.

And there will be even more amazing images to come out.

Differing Viewpoints

What those who do not believe in God are saying is that they are sure that there is life out there.

Yes, even if they have no physical evidence. Their only basis is that space is so vast, there has to be life out there. And so parroting what Carl Sagan said,
'The universe is a pretty big place. If it's just us, seems like an awful waste of space.'

[Ironically if God is out there, then He is alive and so those who do not believe in Him will be correct in their assumption]

Flip Side

On the otherhand, what those who do believe in God are saying is that the beauty of the universe is the evidence that God exists. As Paul of Tarsus wrote in his letter to the first church in Rome:

Romans 1:19-20

"For what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood from His workmanship, so that men are without excuse."

People Are People

Humankind will continue to believe in what they believe in, call it implicit bias or unconscious bias.

But believing in a theory that says God isn't real because no one has seen Him or there is no evidence yet or there is surely life out there because space is so vast, it is a waste of space if it isn't, doesn't really hold water.

Those who believe in God, saw Him in the flesh, in the person of Jesus of Nazareth, and they wrote down what they witnessed.

There is intelligent life out there. And it is the Intelligent Designer. The universe declares that. Yes, whether we believe it or not. God does not need our validation.
