Quiet Time #12 - It's All About Him

"For I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and him crucified."  1 Corinthian 2:2 ESV

Apostle Paul reminded the believers in Corinth that when he was with them, he deliberately kept his preaching plain and simple. He emphasized that he shared Jesus, for who he is, Jesus then for what he did and lastly Jesus crucified.

And Paul told them that he did so with much fear and trembling -- meaning he was scared to death as he did so, because when he spoke, it was supposed to be nothing about him. And he preached not with eloquence of speech or the skill of a great public speaker but with the demonstration of God's Spirit and God's power.

In God Alone

Why? So as to be sure the hearer's faith should not rest in his (Paul's) own skill or his own power or in the wisdom of mere mortal men but in the actual real demonstration of the power of God which they could see and experience first hand and by understanding what the real meaning of the cross was.

This kind of preaching is still going on all around the world as the gospel is preached in every new people, every new tribe, every new culture, and every new nation.
