"For I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and him crucified."   1 Corinthian 2:2 ESV Apostle Paul reminded the believers in Corinth that when he was with them, he deliberately kept his preaching plain and simple. He emphasized that he shared Jesus, for who he is, Jesus then for what he did and lastly Jesus crucified. And Paul told them that he did so with much fear and trembling -- meaning he was scared to death as he did so, because when he spoke, it was supposed to be nothing about him. And he preached not with eloquence of speech or the skill of a great public speaker but with the demonstration of God's Spirit and God's power. In God Alone Why? One of the things He told them was He promised to be with them until the end of time, He will give them the Holy Spirit and this one -- that they can do greater things than what He has done. Of course, this does not literally mean that we can be better than Him or that we can even do what He has done, such as die for the sins of the world, forgive sins or even raise more dead people than He did (He was recorded to have raised three people who have already died, Lazarus being the most famous and being dead the longest).
