Advent - God's Love

"The one who is the true light, who gives light to everyone, was coming into the world.

He came into the very world he created, but the world didn’t recognize him. He came to his own people, and even they rejected him. But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God. They are reborn—not with a physical birth resulting from human passion or plan, but a birth that comes from God.

So the Word became human and made his home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness. And we have seen his glory, the glory of the Father’s one and only Son."

-John the Apostle circa 1st Century
John 1:9-14

Last night Jupiter and Saturn appeared as a bright star, visible to the naked eye for a few hours to those who were anticipating and looking for it. This became possible when in their race around the sun the paths of these two giant planets crossed, the closest it had been and last visible on earth in the year 1226.

Christmas Star

Some two thousand years ago. Scriptures tells us a bright star also led the magi to travel from the east looking for the One who has been born King.

Interestingly that bright light in the heavens was pointing them to the True Light who came down from heaven to live among us.

Scriptures prophesied and recorded that:

1. He came into the world He created, but the world didn’t recognize him. We didn't see Him for who He is and who He said He was.

2. He came to his own people, and they rejected him. His hometown rejected Him. His home country gave Him up and sent Him to death. We still do (blinded if not blindsided).

3. But to all who believed Him and who accepted Him, and to all who will believe and will accept Him, He gave the right to become children of God.

4. They are reborn—not with a physical birth from human passion, plan or design, but a rebirth that comes from God, Our Heavenly Father.

5. He was full of unfailing love. And those who have personally seen this light and this love who came down and lived with them, wrote down His story that the light (the Word) indeed became flesh (became human) and He truly made his home (He dwelt) among us.

He was Jesus, who grew up in Nazareth, born in Bethlehem, in the City of David -- the Light of the world.
