Feeding the Sheep - Living the New Life 10

"And always be thankful. Let the message about Christ, in all its richness, fill your lives."
-Apostle Paul, 1st century
Colossians 3:15b-16a

[This is the 25th message of this series]

This lesson is intended for mature believers (or adulting believers). For a more orderly study, please go through all previous messages first, if you haven't yet.

New Nature

This is the 10th part of this series, within a series.

To continue, we were talking about how Apostle Paul is telling the first church in Colassae what "to do",  in place of things they started to quit doing.

Thankful

In the morning as we wake up, it is a good idea to start the new day in an atmosphere of worship and an attitude of gratitude. Let us sing a song such as this and think about how we did not deserve mercy and nothing we did was the reason why God loves us.

Once we begin from this mindset, it is easy to be humble and extend the same love God gave us, towards others.

So No On Would.Boast

Ephesians 2:1-10

"Once you were dead because of your disobedience and your many sins. You used to live in sin, just like the rest of the world, obeying the devil—the commander of the powers in the unseen world. He is the spirit at work in the hearts of those who refuse to obey God. All of us used to live that way, following the passionate desires and inclinations of our sinful nature. By our very nature we were subject to God’s anger, just like everyone else.

But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much, that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God’s grace that you have been saved!) For he raised us from the dead along with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ Jesus. So God can point to us in all future ages as examples of the incredible wealth of his grace and kindness toward us, as shown in all he has done for us who are united with Christ Jesus.

God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago."

Apostle Paul in writing to the first church in the City of Ephesus, placed each of them at the proper frame of mind and perspective. Nothing that we've done would have prevented Christ from offering His life for ours. And nothing we can do will make God love us any more than He already has.

Gift

He loved us at our most unlovable condition. His is a selfless kind of love. It is a gift not a reward.

His love for us can make us love ourselves and others like us, hard headed, prideful and full of self doubt and everything else we keep to ourselves in the hope that others will like us. God loves us already, even with all our imperfections. He knows us more than we know ourselves. He knows what we can become and He has great plans for us.

Start the day loving on Him who loved us first.
