Feeding the Sheep - Living the New Life 9

"And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are called to live in peace"
-Apostle Paul, 1st century
Colossians 3:15a

[This is the 24th message of this series]

This lesson is intended for mature believers (or adulting believers). For a more orderly study, please go through all the previous messages first, if you haven't yet.

New Nature

This is the 9th part of this series, within a series.

To continue, we were talking about how the Apostle Paul is telling the first church in Colassae what "to do",  in place of the things they started to quit doing.

Peace

So there are many things money cannot buy, one of them is peace.

There is no business which sells peace. Of course there are those who market, advertise and sell you life insurance, home security, guns, computer virus protection, fraud protection, and so on but none of these will be able to give us peace.

True peace, real peace comes from knowing there is a God. And that God is in control. He knows what He is doing, He will never leave us or forsake us and He has a plan and a purpose for each one of us.

Worries

One of the first things that has kept us from receiving Christ is worry, worries of what others will say, worries about how our reputation will take a hit, worries over our future and how believing in Christ will change our style and affect every aspect of our lives.

Our comfort zone was our peace. And it was a fragile one at best. Many do not even enjoy any kind of comfort. But we all will still worry about trading what we have over what Scriptures is telling us about what we can receive when we believe Christ.

The irony is we will never know real peace until we believe and accept the finished work of Christ.

It will be a leap of faith to do so. And each one of us will have to take that step on our own accord.

With peace will come joy, hope and everything else that.comes from knowing we have been given the right to be called children of God.

John 1:10-13

"He came into the very world he created, but the world didn’t recognize him. He came to his own people, and even they rejected him. But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God. They are reborn—not with a physical birth resulting from human passion or plan, but a birth that comes from God."

This is the kind of peace that the world cannot give us. It is not something sold and bought.
