Living a Life of Thanksgiving
"Let the peace of Christ keep you in tune with each other, in step with each other. None of this going off and doing your own thing. And cultivate thankfulness. Let the Word of Christ—the Message—have the run of the house. Give it plenty of room in your lives. Instruct and direct one another using good common sense. And sing, sing your hearts out to God! Let every detail in your lives—words, actions, whatever—be done in the name of the Master, Jesus, thanking God the Father every step of the way." Colossians 3:15-17
This is now the 9th message of thanksgiving* and we really need to get it down by now, especially this Advent Season.
The short passage above taken from the letter of Apostle Paul to the Colossians would really put this message of Thanksgiving and Advent (the coming of Jesus) down to a science, if not a recipe book.
So do we live a life of thanksgiving?
Here is the recipe list:
Peace - live in peace (God's peace) with everyone
Cooperation - live as if we live in one body
Gratitude - be thankful to everyone/everything/everytime
Scriptures - read it
Common Sense - learn God's wisdom and share it
Sing - sing and sing to the Lord, no really sing to Him, like you mean it with all your heart
Jesus - do things in Jesus' name
Thankfulness - take it with you step by step, yes thank God in every step
*Giving Thanks Series:
Giving Thanks
Thank You Theo
Thank You John
Thank You Mary, Mother of Jesus
Thank You Pharisees, Sadducees, Scribes and Teachers of the Law
Thank You Zach
